"13" is a remake of a little Indie film from France called "13 Tzameti" which was released back in 2005. The original film was done on a very low budget and was filmed in black and white with amazing camera work, "13" unfortunately doesn't capture that same feel but it's cast alone should draw a good amount of interest.
The movie stars Sam Riley as Vince, an electrician whose family is in dire financial straits. At a work site, he hears talk of a clandestine "job" that has the potential to pay huge. When the person planning on attending the job dies suddenly, Vince nabs the instructions and heads off to take his place. Not knowing what this "job" was before hand Vince soon learns he is taking part in a game of Russian roulette where there can only be one winner.
Director, Gela Babluani has a very big cast to work with including, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, 50 Cent (Curtis Jackson), Ray Winstone and Sam Riley and He seems to adapt his own to fit the characters which takes away from the film because a number of them have very little to do in the film plus adapting it for a western audience seems to also take something away from the film. Like most remakes "13" doesn't match up to the 2005 film but it's still a pretty decent psychological thriller and at least it's something different plot wise from the stuff we are use to seeing. If you like the genre and/or cast then I recommend checking it out.
"13" could of been much better but as it is it's still a pretty entertaining film with a great cast, it's just too bad most are not used to their full potential. The DVD and Blu-ray will have Special Features that include:
