Psychology professor Suzanne Hollander is a popular teacher and respected researcher at a prestigious college on the East Coast. But what the students and faculty don’t know is that Suzanne’s interest in psychology comes from a dark place in her past… a past which Suzanne can no longer outrun.

When Suzanne’s class is interrupted by gunfire and bullet holes riddle the walls of her lecture hall, she reacts quickly and hustles her students to safety. But one of her students is hit, bleeding badly, and Suzanne needs to find a way out of the school. Outside, Police Lieutenant Michael Olsen and Suzanne’s boyfriend Logan put the school on lockdown and come up with a plan to get Logan inside. Meanwhile, the deranged shooter comes closer to Suzanne and her students—so close, in fact, that Suzanne is forced to face the truth. The shooter is a former student and research subject by the name of Connor, and his obsession with Suzanne is the reason he is here. As Connor continues his reign of terror, Suzanne must come up with a plan to face her own demons, disarm Connor and put a stop to the madness—before it’s too late

"A Deadly Obsession" tells the story of Suzanne Hollander, a Psychology professor at a highly regarded College. When Suzanne was six years she was witness to her mother killing her father. All these years later she still has a fear of becoming the killer her mother was. When day she is asked to move her class to another room so a test can be given in her original room, shortly after that a young man enters the school and begins killing students. We find out that he was actually looking for Suzanne, this young man was a test subject of hers and became obsessed with her. Now locked in the building with the psychopath she must keep her students safe until help arrives.

"A Deadly Obsession" could easily be a Lifetime Channel movie except it is a bit better than most of those but it does have the same feel. These "fatal attraction" type films are nothing new either but for the most part this one is pretty entertaining. The thing that really let the film down at least for me was the writing. There are a few instances where things are not believable or realistic at all including one right at the film's climax. I know you have to suspend belief at times when watching a movie but there is some poor writing decisions here.

With the sometimes poor script and predictability the only thing that saved the film for me was its cast. Katee Sackhoff is her usual best as Suzanne and John Shea is also terrific as Dr. Egan. With a movie like this you need an actor that can deliver on playing the bad guy and Grant Harvey does just that as Connor. He really brings this psychopath to life and he makes him very creepy as well. The rest of the supporting cast did a great job as well playing their roles. There was not a weak link in the cast at all which is why they were the best part of the film.

The film does manage to build some nice suspense as it moves along so it is not a total waste of time, in fact I enjoyed the cast and parts of the story enough to recommend checking it out and I would also like to give a heads up to Director, John Stimpson who did a great job all things considered. So just do not expect anything special here, the rating it gets from me is because the cast did such a fantastic job. Available on DVD now, you can order the film HERE.
