Edgar is a weak man, not physically but mentally, He goes to work and when he gets home he hounded by his controlling wife who isn't happy that Edgar does nothing but work and watch TV. She is also upset that they do not have a family of their own. But when Edgar finds her dead in their bath tub from an apparent suicide his fragile mind begins to completely unravel.

Aegri Somnia is a feast not only for the mind but for the eyes as well. Everything about the film is brilliant, the cinematography is top-notch and the fading from black and white into color to tell us what is real and what is in Edgar's mind is genius to say the least. I am not going to sit here and say this is a horror film everyone will like, in fact I am sure there's going to be many mainstream horror fans out there that just don't get it or will grow bored of the film before it's final pay-off.

From it's first scene that opens in black and white showing Edgar walking between two very big buildings, to showing the cables and gears that run the elevator Edgar uses everyday to get to his apartment is a visual delight. That is the thing that makes this film so special, it's not only the story that captivates you but the settings, camera work and even the lighting and use the of smoke together create a character all their own.

As far as the acing goes the entire cast is terrific but the film belongs to Tyhr Trubiak who plays Edgar and he does it in such a realistic and convincing way that I was taken in my his character. You feel sorry for this man because he doesn't fit in and is ridiculed by everyone around him.

This is a thinking man's horror film that puts you in the shoes of a man that is losing all sense of reality and as the lines blur the deeper and deeper you get drawn into his hell. Like I stated before this is not going to be for everyone but if you are a fan of Independent cinema then you are not going to want to miss out on seeing Aegri Somnia. A visual and nightmarish master piece that is sure to find a cult following once the word gets out on it. I loved everything about this movie and highly recommend checking it out. Writer/Director, James Rewucki did a terrific job directing the film, he certainly has a great eye for the original and I look forward to seeing more of his work in the future. you can find Aegri Somnia and many other great titles at R Square Films website HERE. Aegri Somina is a dark, suspense filled horror film that challenges the senses. I can't say enough good things about this film, this is just another example of how great Independent cinema can be.
