Disney has certainly made their mark with their nature documentaries and "African Cats" is one of the best to date. African Cats follows events in the lives of Mara, a lion cub who is under the tutelage of her mother, Layla. The there's Sita, a cheetah who is raising five hungry newborns, and lastly there's Fang, a male lion who attempts to protect his family and territory from a rival lion and his four fully grown sons who are looking to take over. We follow these families as they struggle to find food and stay alive on a daily basis, as beautiful as nature and it's creatures are it is also unforgiving and as harsh as it might seem at times it is what it is.

Director's Alastair Fothergill and Keith Scholey present the film in way that is personal which creates a connection between the audience and the animals, this is a very clever way to show the animals in their natural habitat and you really care about what happens to all of them. Samuel Jackson does a great job in narrating the film, I wasn't sure on him at first but he does a great job expressing emotion. Be warned some scenes may upset very young viewers but for older children and adults this is a beautiful, honest look at life in the wild and one I highly recommend owning.
