While picking up the pieces of her shattered world, the process of healing introduces some new-found obstacles in the form of a new love interest (Brian White). Now, Natalie must test the boundaries of her trust and the capacity of her heart before she can love again. Lynn Whitfield, Greg Vaughn and Trilby Glover costar in this fresh start romance from award-winning director Leila Djansi (The Ties That Bind).
"And Then There Was You" is a drama that centers on Joshua and Natalie. The first few scenes make it seem like the two have a good marriage going on but it doesn't take long to see that there is trouble within. The lack of communication and the bickering when there is conversation is a sign that their marriage is in jeopardy. It doesn't take long before Joshua is moving out but he before he does he reveals that he was living a secret life with another family and he has children as well. This devastates Natalie not only because Joshua was cheating but because she cannot have children of her own. After Joshua cleans out their bank account Natalie is left with no choice but to sell the house and move to a smaller apartment. But the place needs some work before putting in on the market and her friend has just the right handyman for the job.
Darrell and Natalie have one thing in common, his wife is cheating on him as well so the two become close pretty quickly but Darrell has a dark secret of his own and when Natalie finds out about it she calls off their romance. Natalie is a confused woman that over thinks things a bit too much and perhaps over looks possible romance as well because maybe her real romance was living next door, but you will have to check out the film to find out.
This is a drama that really gets the audience engaged right from the start. The characters are very realistic and believable and it doesn't take long before you care what happens to them in one way or another. The story is of course slow moving but it is deliberate but it is told so well that you never get bored.
With such a powerful story you need a cast that can deliver of the characters and this one does. Garcelle Beauvais is so beautiful and talented and she really brings all the right emotions to her role as Natalie. But Garcelle is not alone, the film also gets strong performances from Leon, Brian White and Greg Vaughan as does the rest of the cast as well.
Production wise the film looks much bigger than it's budget suggests, the cinematography and sound are both fantastic. "And Then There Was You" is one of those films that really gets you thinking even after it is long over. A drama about marital bliss and hope. I highly recommend this to anyone that likes a good drama, a well-written story a cast to die for makes this a film worth seeing.
