An imaginative teenage girl, living in a mystical and dangerous community built on a deserted drive-in movie lot along the Texas/Oklahoma border, struggles to realize her potential, and escape the world she was born into.

"Angels in Stardust" tells the story of Vallie Sue, a small town girl who has to keep an eye on her younger brother because her mother is too busy running around with men. She has a few friends of her own and one imaginary one as well, a cowboy who lives in the drive-in movie screen. He seems to be the only one she can really open up to and he gives her some life lessons.

Vallie Sue has dreams of leaving her small town for bigger and better things but feels trapped, but fate with a little help from a Native American that everyone in town thinks is dangerous that changes Vallie's life forever.

The film takes it's time getting started as it introduces all the characters and the basic story line, there are multiple stories going on all at once but they are all related. Once it gets done taking care of business is when the film really becomes engaging. I suppose you can say the story is about following your dreams and hope but it is not always a happy film, Vallie's mom is too busy running around with all kinds of men to raise her children the right way and that leaves Vallie to look after her younger brother who seems to be more mature than most his age because of the lack of parents.

There are some bad guys in town as well which Vallie runs in to but I am not going to go into details about the plot here so not to spoil the fun. This is a truly captivating story about a young girl who dreams of a better life. Right from the start you get sucked into her life and you immediately care and want nothing but the best for her.

"Angels in Stardust" is made better by its amazing cast, Alicia Silverstone gives the best performance of her career as the mother and I really loved Billy Burke as the mystical cowboy. But the true star here was AJ Michalka as Vallie. What a fantastic performance by her, I see this young lady becoming a true star in the very near future.

I loved this film, it is a terrific coming of age tale for teens and adults alike. "Angels in Stardust" tugs at your heartstrings and it teaches us to never give up on our dreams. Story-telling does not come any better than this, a gem that should not be missed.
