Bloodlock is a Independent, low-budget horror film that shows it's lack of resources but makes up for it in other ways. The cast for the most part does does a pretty good job playing their roles, Ashley Gallo who stars as Christine is the best of the leads. I thought she did a convincing job playing her role as the wife who suspects her husband of cheating on her but now must dealing with a menacing vampire as well. The film is about a married couple that buys a little fixer upper but after moving in Christine finds a sealed door that harbors a dark secret. Then there are the older neighbors, they want what is behind the door and will do anything to get it. While Christine and her husband are out the neighbors break in and begin to unseal the door and release the evil behind it just when the owners come home but it's too late the evil has already been released and is out looking for victims.
I liked the film-makers take on vampires here, it certainly is a bit different and some what original which is something you rarely see nowadays. Director, William Victor Schotten does a nice job at keeping the film moving at a good pace and supplying enough creepy moments and gore to please fans of the genre. The film also manages to add some suspense as Christine is out looking for the vampire and he is looking and waiting for her. There is trouble another every corner and the tension stays high till the very end. Certainly not a classic but considering what the film-makers had to work with I thought everyone involved did a fine job making a film that was certainly entertaining. If you are a fan of Independent cinema and horror then I suggest picking this one up and giving it a chance, there is some good stuff here and it shows a lot of promise. Maybe next time with a bigger budget the results might will be even better. The DVD comes with Special Features that include:
