In this twisted independent horror film, writer-director Timothy Friend dreams up a fantastical meeting between three of the most notorious killers of all time: Bonnie (Tiffany Shepis), Clyde (Trent Haaga) -- and Count Dracula (Russel Friend) himself. When the outlaw lovers seek refuge after a robbery, they stumble upon Dr. Loveless (Allen Lowman) and his rambling house of horrors, where "life" and "death" are relative terms.
"Bonnie and Clyde vs Dracula"...the title alone is awesome and what a cool, original idea of mixing two genres together. The early 20th century look is fantastic and the production values over-all are much higher than you would expect for an Indie film. Bonnie and Clyde are played by Tiffany Shepis and Trent Haaga and the two of them are terrific, mixing just the right amount of charm and humor with their talent for bloodshed. The two of them have great chemistry together but it's Tiffany Shepis in particular is amazing as Bonnie, bringing the perfect mix of crazy and sexy to the character, I can never get enough of this talented beauty. As the film opens we are introduced to Bonnie and Clyde, who after a botched robbery look for shelter. They end up at a nearby mansion which just happens to be owned by Dr. Loveless. The film switches between the gangster story and the horror as it gets you ready for the ultimate showdown. While the Bonnie and Clyde plot provides some good acting and laughs the Dracula side is a bit more zany and silly, Dr. Loveless uses his dim-wit sister as a sort of slave by having a shock collar on her and he uses unsuspecting guests as food for Dracula as he attempts to bring him back to human form. Both plots work but the gangster side does a much better job at being entertaining.
The film has it's obvious flaws to it but over-all this was a well-made, fun Indie flick with plenty of carnage and laughs along the way. I really enjoyed a lot of the witty dialogue that took place and the script is well-written. Writer/Director, Timothy Friend really has an eye for the genres, this is a real talent and I hope to see more of his work in the future. A brilliant mix of Gangster mythology and campy horror with a good amount of comic relief thrown in, I had a great time watching this and recommend it to all fan's of Independent cinema. "Bonnie and Clyde vs Dracula" is a winner and it's one film I am sure to revisit soon. The DVD comes with Special Features that include:
