When she discovers that her own boyfriend (Peter Benson) has been using her and stealing her business, professional break-up specialist Britney Brooks (Amanda Crew) -- she'll dump your lover for you, for a fee -- turns the tables and becomes a professional matchmaker instead. But can a jaded, jilted woman really play cupid?
The over-all story here suffers from the same old "Hollywood" formula when it comes to comedies like this. I already knew the ending of the film and it wasn't even half way over it, you have a very predictable story here but the film does have a few good things going for it as well. For starters you have one of Hollywood's brightest new stars, Amanda Crew who plays the lead female role which certainly doesn't hurt. The supporting cast also does a great job too at playing their characters. The story is pretty simple, Britney runs a break-up business for those wanting to ditch their mates without having to face them to do so. Britney normally doesn't date herself but when she meets a guy she is swept off her feet by his charm but it isn't what it seems and soon she finds herself getting dumped. Just when she thinks things can't get worse she finds out she may also be losing her business to the bank. She decides to make a move and instead of playing the break-up artist she attempts to get her sister back together with her old boyfriend and in turn save the business. This sounds a lot like "Hitch" in reverse doesn't it? I suppose this falls under the "chick flick" category but I did find the film to be entertaining even with the predictable story, there are a few twists and turns in it to keep you interested and like I said before it also benefits from a talented young cast. If you like this sort of romantic comedy then I suggest picking it up, it is certainly better than most like it and there is enough laughs along the way to keep you entertained.
