when Raquel and her girlfriend have car trouble and break down on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. At the same time, a group of people are in the desert for a photo shoot. Soon, they stumble upon an abandoned town where a family of masked psychopaths reside.
'Brute 1976' takes place in August 1976. It tells the story of eight friends who are going to meet in the middle of the desert for a one-of-a-kind magazine photo shoot. Six will arrive in a van while two others, Rachel and her friends, decide to stop by an old ghost town next to where they are supposed to be meeting, but things go horribly wrong when a family of crazies take Rachel and kill her friend. In the meantime, the others arrive and decide to wait until the others arrive, but when there are no shows, they decide to set out looking for them, but when they don't find them, they decide to do the shoot anyway, and then they too go to explore the town, which turns out to be a fight for their lives.
The 70's were much simpler times with no cell phones or social media. It was a kid when kids actually went outside and played until it was time to come in for the night. It also produced some great horror films, such as the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes. Fast-forward and let me introduce'Brute 1976', a new horror slasher that pays great homage to those films while bringing along its own ideas. It comes with all the class ingredients: chainsaws, a group of killers living in the middle of nowhere who happen to like wearing human skin, and a group of innocent people who could never have guessed the kind of danger they were about to find themselves in. Director Marcel Walz and writer Joe Knetter combine their talents to create a golden oldie in modern times. Bringing back all the fear, suspense and blood and guts we as horror fans have come to love. At an hour and 45 minutes, its quick pace and loads of action keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. The film also has another thing going for it and that is the cast, which includes Adriane McLean, Sarah French, Gigi Gustin, Dazelle Yvette and Adam Bucci. They are all fantastic and look like they had a great time making the time.
