Amanda Crew (CHARLIE ST. CLOUD, THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT) and Glen Gould star in this bare-knuckle thriller about a disgraced aboriginal boxer (Gould), now reduced to backstreet brawls for chump change. But when he’s hired to kidnap a runaway teen (Crew) from a local drug house, the two will bust open a nightmare of violence, betrayal, desperate choices and dark secrets. For a last-chance fighter who won’t stay down and a long-damaged girl who’s finally standing up, is staying alive only half the battle?

"Charlie Zone" tells the story of Avery Paul, a disgraced boxer and ex-convict, who is hired to abduct a runaway from a notorious drug house and return her safely to her family. But nothing goes as planned and nothing is what it seems. I was not expecting much more than an average revenge thriller here but to my surprise this was a film about much more than just revenge. To talk about the story too much would only ruin the surprises that await you and there are numerous twists and turns in the film so I am not going to go into details here. What I can tell you is what starts out as one thing quickly evolves into a complex story with characters that are very well developed, very realistic and very believable.

The cast did a terrific job playing their characters, Glen Gould is simply amazing as the ex-boxer turned street fighter and Amanda Crew gives her best performance yet as Jan, the young runaway who got involved in a local drug dealer and has become addicted herself. This is one of those strong, emotional stories that just gets better as it moves along. Like I already stated the story starts off simple enough but it gets much more complex and even shocking as the truth gets revealed later in the film.

Production wise the film looks and sounds fantastic and Director, Michael Melski who also co-wrote the film did a great job in telling the story and keeping it moving at a nice pace. This was a real surprise because I was not expecting much from it when I sat down to watch it. I think that this is going to do very well on home video because of strong word of mouth.

"Charlie Zone" is the story of two lost souls looking for a better life, Jan looks to escape her drug addicted life and start over while Avery looks to redeem himself in some way and move on from his past as well. Filled with plenty of drama, brutal action and suspense, this is one film I highly recommend checking out. Available on DVD and Blu-ray, you can order the DVD HERE and the Blu-ray HERE.
