Acclaimed filmmaker and screenwriter, Cal Neros, has just been nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for his upbeat, male-bonding film, "Skylight Harmony." For his next film, he is given a million-dollar advance by a popular Hollywood studio to write a second screenplay that's due in 7 months. After severely neglecting this deadline, Cal meets with an angry studio executive who forces him to deliver the screenplay within one week or to return the advance. Unfortunately for Cal, he lost every dollar after investing in a chain of tanning salons located in Harlem, NY. Ruined financially, Cal buckles down in a race against time as he is instructed to write 3 short stories within a feature-length film.... Furthermore, the studio wants each story to be more sick, twisted and vulgar than anything Cal is accustomed to writing. CIRCUS MAXIMUS unfolds as the fictional characters come to life in their respective stories.

“Circus Maximus,” is about an up-and-coming film writer Cal Neros, played by Julian McCullough who is forced to write a screenplay in one weekend to meet his studio’s deadline. As Neros works on his script, the movie shifts to follow the stories he writes. There are three different story lines.

The first follows a man and woman on a date. The man is a jerk and the woman is a midget, you can only imagine what jokes you are in for here.

The second plot line follows two private investigators as they attempt to do their job, the story focuses on the private investigators having an odd job to do plus their personalities are not very normal either.

The last story is about a guy and his therapist, this is by far the most twisted story of the three and my favorite one as well.

"Circus Maximus" is an adult comedy that delivers laughs from it's opening frames all the way to the very end. The very large ensemble cast do a terrific job playing these off the wall characters and I could not find a weak link among any of the cast members. As far as comedies go this little Indie flick delivers with a unique way of telling the story of a screen writer who is struggling to complete a script he was given a big advance on. I really enjoyed the way the story was constructed and carried out as it switches between Cal and the stories he is writing.

If you're looking for something a bit different to watch then I recommend checking out this new comedy, "Circus Maximus" is a lewd, crude, totally hilarious comedy that delivers a boat load of laughs. Writer/Director, Thomas J. La Sorsa deserves a lot of credit here for creating an entertaining, original film that has you glued to the screen wondering what crazy antics are going to happen next. The story is hard to talk about because so many funny moments happen so to say too much would only ruin the experience but take my word for it this is a very funny comedy that fan's of the genre are going to love.
