Who knew simple dinner reservations under a different name could turn one New Jersey couple's date night so terribly upside-down? Claire (Tina Fey) and Phil (Steve Carell) Foster leave their kids with the sitter (Leighton Meester) and head out for a night on the town -- as the Tripplehorns.

Having Steve Carrell and Tina Fey in the film makes for a pretty good comedy which might otherwise be just mediocre, plus having a supporting cast that includes Mark Wahlberg and James Franco to name a few certainly doesn't hurt. Carrell and Fey have never been better as married couple Phil and Claire Foster, and their misadventures as they are running for their lives in the big city thanks to a case of mistaken identity. The story itself pretty much sticks to the same Hollywood formulas but Director, Shawn Levy does a good job at mixing the action with the screwball comedy, plus he seems to have let his talented cast off the leash and in return their talents really shine here. There is plenty of laughs in form of situational comedy and enough action to keep you enjoying the movie. I seen better romantic comedies but Date Night makes the best of it's script by having a stellar cast to bring it to life. Date Night is a romantic comedy for adults that has a quick pace and keeps your attention till the very end. If you like the genre I recommend picking this one for it's star power alone. An entertaining film that rises above it's flaws to make for an enjoyable time.
