Anna and Tom were a down and out couple--- until one day, their fortunes changed. One lucky lottery ticket later they found themselves living the good life, cruising the South Pacific with their fancy new friends, enjoying the essential three C's of luxury living: Champagne, Caviar and Cocaine. But when the group of yuppies lose their way, and are marooned on a mysterious jungle island, their charmed lives suddenly become a string of gruesome deaths.
The film is a mixed bag of genres including comedy, romance and horror that I thought never really reached it's potential due to some directing choices. The main problem here is the film's pacing, for what the film is suppose to be it just takes way to long getting there. From the opening frames you do get to see some hot ladies in bikinis and some beautiful ocean scenery as well as some a few good laughs. The film takes it's time setting up the characters which I do not have a problem with since few movies ever do in this genre but it was the time taken to get to what the film advertises that might have some people shutting it off before it even gets there. The love story angle is a nice touch, it makes the film a bit different but that also takes too long to come and go before getting to the zombies. I enjoyed certain parts of the movie and think Director, Sofian Khan create a unique take on the whole lost on a deserted island thing but the story could of used a little tweak here and there to make it more effective. I was left feeling a little confused by the movie as a whole but certain parts of the film including the love story and the introduction of the zombies were interesting enough to at least make the film somewhat entertaining. Looking back on it I see there was a lot of potential here that the film sadly never reaches. This is certainly a different take on the cannibal/zombie genre and I am not going to sit here and say don't watch it because it does at times an interesting story and the cast all did a fine job but I can say don't go into this thinking you are getting an all out horror flick, if you go into it with an open mind and are willing to sit through the slow parts it does get better towards the end. Hard-core fans of the genre is what this one is targeted at so if you fit the profile I suggest giving the film a look at. You can order the DVD HERE.
