At the urging of his ex-girlfriend, Sonny (Elisabeth Shue), who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, high school janitor Don McKay (Thomas Haden Church) returns to his hometown for the first time in 25 years and finds himself ensnared in a web of conspiracy, deception and murder.

Don McKay is one of those Independent films that makes my job worth while. I didn't have the chance to see this in theaters during it's limited run, I wish I had but now that it is on DVD everyone will have a chance to check it out and strong word of mouth is going to create a nice buzz for the film. This is one of those films that needs to be seen, talking about it will never do it justice but if I had to describe it in a few words I guess I would call it, "Hitchcock meet The Usual Suspects". Don McKay is one of the those movies that after an hour into it all you really know is these characters are up to no good but your not really sure what it is yet, that type of suspense and mystery along with with very funny dark humor make this a must see film. I find it kinda sad the film never got the chance to reach a larger audience in theaters but I am sure that will all change now. The cast here is to die for and their all brilliant including, Elisabeth Shue, Thomas Haden Church and Melissa Leo. The film does everything right and the twist ending couldn't of been better. I am not going to sit here and go into details on what happens in the film because that would be wrong but I highly recommend picking it up today, it is one of those films that demands another viewing and you will end up liking it more the 2nd time around. Writer/Director, Jake Goldberger has certainly made a name for himself with this debut masterpiece, he has to be turning heads after this one. I can on and on about how good this film is but you really need to see it for yourself to appreciate it so make sure you pick it up today, you will be glad you did.
