Manufacturing just 50 grams of meth in China will earn you a death sentence.

Timmy Choi (Louis Koo) just got caught making tons.

Now he's in the custody of Captain Zhang (Sun Honglei), and has one chance to avoid execution - turn informant and help the cops bring down the powerful cartel he’s been cooking for. Over the next 72 sleepless hours, the sting spins out of control, the line between duty and recklessness is blurred, and it becomes unclear who actually has the upper hand.

"Drug War" is the latest Crime/Thriller from the mast, Johnnie To. Those who are familiar with To's work already know he is the master of the genre. "Drug War" is thriller that has a complex story with many different characters coming and going so to talk about the plot here would only ruin the film, what is written in the synopsis above is all you need to know before watching it.

I have been a fan of Johnnie To's work for some time, his films are also on the money and this one is no exception. The film is filled with amazing action scenes and it has enough tension and suspense to keep you at the edge of your seat the entire time. Another thing the film has going for it is its cast, each and everyone in the film did a great job playing their roles including, Louis Koo and Sun Honglei to name only a few. And finally, production wise the film looks and sounds fantastic but I have come to expect that from Asian cinema and it never disappoints.

Easily one of the year's best films, if you like a good crime thriller then I recommend owning this one today. Available on DVD and Blu-ray, you can order the DVD HERE and the Blu-ray HERE.
