Fueled by dazzling high-definition photography and stunning locations around the world, this nature program captures three animal families in action over the course of a year, revealing how the sun influences animal behavior and migratory patterns. Oscar nominee James Earl Jones provides a compelling narrative as polar bears march across the ice, elephants enjoy a swim and whales breach the surface of the ocean.

Disneynature's Earth, at $40 million the most expensive documentary ever made, opened in the theaters on Earth Day 2009 with record revenues (for a documentary) of $4 million. This is a compilation from the BBC series which ran a total of 11 hours, Disney has chosen to break this down into individual films, the next one being "Oceans" which will hit theaters next year. The original BBC version had actor, Patrick Stewart doing the narrative but for the U.S. release James Earl Jones takes over, what better acting voice could you possibly want, the man was born to do this kind of thing and his voice really adds to the over-all enjoyment. The high-definition cinematography is breath-taking, it is like you are right there with the film makers. This is a film that families will enjoy over and over again, the film follows several animals including, a humpback whale and her calf, a polar bear and her cubs,an elephant and her calf and there is more like exotic birds that are as mysterious as they are beautiful. Nature is cruel but Disney does a great job at keeping this a family friendly documentary avoiding the carnage that takes place in nature and showing only the beauty. Nature lovers will really enjoy this film and the Blu-ray DVD is out of this world I was taken to another place while watching this and when it was over I felt sad and wanted more. In today's world we need more movies like this that the entire family can enjoy together and Earth is a perfect one for that. I was taken in by its beauty and even learned some things along the way, I highly recommend picking this up today, what "March of" did for penguins Earth does for all of nature, a true delight. The DVD comes with Special Features that include:
