The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Billy Zane, Lacey Chabert, Christine Bently, Matt Dallas, Richard Tyson
The line between film-making and reality blurs when a resentful ghost takes over a film production office... In a Dallas film studio the actors and crew of a horror film become the victims of their own bloody horror story. One by one, they are killed off by a vengeful ghost who seems to be re-enacting some of the scariest moments in the history of film. As the director and his pretty actresses begin to piece together a forty year old puzzle, it may be too late for them all. The key to their freedom is held by a creepy old woman who reveals a murder mystery with a shocking and sinister twist.
"Ghost of Goodnight Lane" is a much better film than I expected for several reasons. First off it is based off a true story and the film was actually filmed at the studio that is haunted. One thing that made the film better is the comedy, I do not normally like my horror mixed with comedy but it seems to work here for whatever reason. It lightens things up a bit from time to time and the humor is actually funny. Another reason why I liked the film so much was Billy Zane. His character provides most of the laughs and Billy really delivers here, this is the best I have seen him in some time. and finally I really enjoyed that the film was film very frightening at times. Done on a low budget but the effects were really well done and very scary and the story is very intense at times as well.
There is also a major twist later in the film which is hinted at a bit earlier but it was still an awesome surprise and make sure to hang out for the credits because there is a bonus scene inside. "Ghost of Goodnight Lane" is a fun and scary horror film that delivers on everything. If you like your horror then do yourself a favor and check this one out. I purposely stayed away from talking about the plot because the above synopsis is all you really need to know before watching the film and I do not want to ruin any of the surprises here.
