Regular guy Ed (Marcus Carroll) awakes one morning to find that his Grandmother has become one of the living dead. While trapped in his home Ed tries to survive the day, keep his house zombie free, stay alive and save the day.

'Granny of the Dead' starts off with a group of friends who are hanging out in an old abandoned church in a small village in Wales. One of them is Ed who becomes the center of the film. While sitting around the group mentions how boring it is anymore but what they don’t know is that the next morning will change their lives forever. Upon waking up in the morning Ed heads downstairs to see if his grandma is up and possibly making breakfast but what he doesn't know is that his granny has been turned into a zombie and wants Ed for breakfast instead. After locking himself in his bathroom and away from his rabid granny Ed begins calling his friends to tell them that his granny has gone crazy mad but he soon finds out that all the elderly folks have turned into flesh-eating zombies. Now Ed and his friends must fight to stay alive and maybe, just maybe save the town in the process.

Zombie movies seem to be the horror of choice among a lot of Independent film makers. There have been too many to remember but Writer/Director, Tudley James has taken the zombie film and injected it with originality and a freshness that should be welcomed by all horror fans. Not only does the film have a perfect mix of horror and comedy but it also tosses in a hint of the supernatural as well to make it one of the best zombie movies I have seen in some time.

The film doesn't bother setting up the characters, instead it gets right into the zombie action filled with blood, gore, decapitations and even bit off penis as well. Once the action starts in doesn't stop until the very end. Another thing that made the film so good was the amazing cast which includes, Marcus Carroll, Abigail Hamilton and Oliver Ferriman to name only a few. Everyone in the film did a fantastic job playing their characters.

The film was done on a low budget but Director, Tudley James did a great job getting the most out of it including some great effects. The film has a fast pace with lots of action and some hilarious moments as well.

'Granny of the Dead' is a real hoot that will keep you laughing and clinging to the edge of your seat all the way to the end. It also has an open ending which suggests a sequel, one I will be eagerly awaiting. The film will be in Select Theaters and On Demand July 14, 2017 so make sure you check out this little gem as soon as you can.
