In 1943, the Germans opened Stalag Luft III, a maximum-security prisoner-of-war camp designed to hold even the craftiest escape artists. In doing so, however, the Nazis unwittingly assembled the finest escape team in military history - brilliantly portrayed here by Steve McQueen, James Garner, Charles Bronson and James Coburn - who worked on what became the largest prison breakout ever attempted.

During World War Two the Germans built Stalag Luft III, new prison camp to house the most troublesome captured Allied airmen. But it all back fired because all they did was put the world's best escape artists in one place.

A classic piece of cinema and if you ever seen the film you know why. Release in 1963, if you haven't seen the film its about time you did. There is no better time to own it than now on Blu-ray which comes packed with Special Features that includes:

over three hours of special features including commentary with Director John Sturges and crew, multiple making of featurettes, the original theatrical trailer and more.

Much of the talk about "The Great Escape" has always centered on Steve McQueen and his terrific performance in the film but don't over-look the stellar performances by his co-stars, James Garner,James Coburn, Richard Attenborough, Charles Bronson and Donald Pleasance. All of them gave incredible performances.

Considering the source material here I thought the transfer to Blu-ray was fantastic in both video and audio. This is a must own for anyone who loves cinema. They don't make movies like this classic anymore so be sure to pick it up and add it to your Blu-ray collection now.
