When Ed's wife comes home early from work one day he becomes overtaken by a strange feeling when he looks into her eyes. Disturbed or possibly just paranoid, Ed becomes possessed with his wife's eyes and struggles to understand these feelings. Is she evil or is he insane? They may not have enough time to find out.
Written, Directed and Produced by Christopher Di Nunzio(Livestock, Viva! Saint Agrippina) "Her Heart Still Beats" is a short film inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell Tale Heart."
The story is about Ed Gallo and his wife Sarah, as the film opens we are greeted by a a creek of flowing water. The scene quickly changes to Ed in the back of a Police car ranting on about how much he loved his wife. Then it switches again and we get to see the events that happened prior to Ed being in custody. Ed is sitting at home doing some work on his laptop when Sarah comes home from her job a bit early because she feels a bit sick. During their conversion Ed notices her eyes turn black and it triggers a evil side to him.
I am not going to go into any more details about what happens so not to spoil the film for those who are waiting anxiously to see it. What I can tell you is the story focuses on the Ed and Sarah for the most part and both actors gives great performances. I immediately recognized Fiore Leo who plays Ed from Christopher Di Nunzio's film "Livestock" which He was terrific in but Fiore is even better here if that is even possible as Ed. His range of emotions really draw you to the character, He is amazing as a man of the edge. Leighsa Burgin also gives a convincing performance as Sarah. The film also has three more characters in it and the remaining cast that includes, John Martellucci, Michael Capozzi and William Bloomfield are all excellent in their supporting roles.
The story alone is almost hypnotic the way it draws you into Ed's world but the score, vivid colors and amazing cinematography all help in building the right amount of suspense and tension. The story is tense and the ending is both creepy and unique. I wish I could talk more about the film but I really don't want to spoil it for others here but if you have seen any of Director, Christopher Di Nunzio's films before then you already know He is an amazing filmmaker and He once again does not disappoint. I had a terrific time checking the film out and I thank Christopher for sending me a copy to review. The film is listed as a drama/thriller but even horror fans are going to dig this well-made, edge of your seat thriller that keeps you glued to the screen till the shocking end.
