Barbara Thorson (Madison Wolfe) is a teenage girl who escapes the realities of school and a troubled family life by retreating into her magical world of fighting evil giants. With the help of her new friend Sophia (Sydney Wade) and her school counselor (Zoe Saldana), Barbara learns to face her fears and battle the giants that threaten her world .

'I Kill Giants' tells the story of a teenager, Barbara Thorson. Barbara isn't an ordinary teenage girl. She sticks to herself mostly, you would consider her a loner or outsider. The kids in her school consider her weird and there is one student that even bullies her every chance she gets. And she even dresses in bunny ears and knee and shin pads.

Her home life isn't any better. Her brother and her do not get along and her older sister who takes care of the family because the parents are completely absent from the film. Barbara lives in a world where she is continually saving her little town, but trapping and kill giants. Director, Anders Walter does a great job telling Barbara's story without giving away anything or any of the story's secrets until right around the end. Sure, you something isn't right in the Thorson family since there is no sign of a mother or father figure in the home and the older sister is having a hard time dealing with Barbara and her brother while holding down a job, but nothing is completely revealed until the very end.

I loved the way all the details were held back because it gave me to all the time to get to know Barbara and to realize just how terrific a girl she was. 'I Kill Giants' is a coming of age/drama/fantasy, the way Barbara acts is a direct result of what she is dealing with as the film opens. Whatever she is dealing with is so hard for her that she retreats into the fantasy world she feels safe in.

I am not going to give away the story because this is one film that needs and deserves to be seen. It is a tear jerker that will fascinate and it will melt your melt. Another thing that made the film so good was the cast, Zoe Saldana who plays the school's psychologist and Imogen Poots who plays the older sister are both terrific in their supporting roles, but the film clearly belongs to Madison Wolfe who not only stole the show but stole my heart and she will do it to you as well.

'I Kill Giants' is a thought-provoking coming of age film that teaches us about bullying, loss and living. It is a perfect blend of fantasy and drama and it is one of the best films I have seen so far this year. RLJE Films will release the upcoming adventure / fantasy I KILL GIANTS in theaters and On Demand / Digital HD on March 23, 2018 so do not miss it.
