Donnie Yen (upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2) ignites the screen in a return to the role that made him an icon - as Ip Man, the real-life Wing Chun grandmaster who mentored Bruce Lee. In this explosive third installment of the blockbuster martial arts series, when a band of brutal gangsters led by a crooked property developer (Mike Tyson) make a play to take over the city, Master Ip is forced to take a stand.

To me the original "Ip Man" was an instant classic, "Ip Man 2" was also very good but it had more of a Hollywood style to it and now there is "Ip Man 3." Donnie Yen is back as the Grandmaster and this time he must fight against a band of thugs who look to take over all the properties in town for their ruthless land developer boss. And then there is Cheung Tin-chi, a martial artist whose son goes to school with Ip man's son. Tin-chi thinks that he is the best at Wing Chun and he sets out to prove it. And if those two problems were not enough Ip Man finds out that his wife is sick. I am not going to go into any more plot details here so not to ruin the film but I will say that I really enjoyed this installment.

Donnie Yen is again magnificent as the Grandmaster, he was born to play this role and I was really impressed with Jin Zhang who was terrific as Cheung Tin-chi. Tin-chi and Yen are amazing in their fight scenes. I can't talk about the cast without mentioning Mike Tyson, I have to admit I was a bit worried about him in this film. I love the guy and think he is hilarious but I was concerned about him in a dramatic role like this. Thankfully he has a limited role in the film, you see him early on and not again until later when his character and Ip Man battle in a three minute fight scene which was excellent and full of energy.

And finally the story, I again really enjoyed the story and liked the three different plot lines running along side each other but the thing I liked the most about the film wasn't it's breathtaking fight scenes, instead it was the human side of the story. The side that sees Ip Man's wife very sick and the real life lesson he learns from it all. It is truly heartbreaking.

"Ip Man 3" is the final chapter in the series but I had a fantastic time watching this trilogy, action packed, and full of drama this is one of the must-see movies of 2016. On DVD and Blu-ray now with Special Features that include:
