While on Christmas vacation, a young couple contemplates their future together. Ashley (Quinn Jackson, The Blacklist, Hunting Season) is interested in marriage and kids, which terrifies Sam (acclaimed comedian Charles Gould,The Big Sick, Bonding). But when the handsome and paternal Nolan (John Anderson,Quantico, Mozart in the Jungle) enters the picture, Sam's life spirals out of control as Ashley questions their relationship. Chaos reigns as Sam desperately clings to Ashley while fending off the threatening Nolan.

'It Cuts Deep' tells the story of Ashley and Sam a young couple who take a road trip to Sam's family home for Christmas. Ashley desperately wants to marry Sam and have children but Sam is resistant to both, especially the children part. But when an old friend of Sam's Nolan turns up Sam thinks, his relationship is being threatened.

After the film's bloody opening scene it settles down and we get to meet Ashley and Sam. Right from the start you feel for Ashley but not so much for Sam. He just seems weird with his unfunny sex jokes. The two argue quite a bit and it makes you wonder why Ashley even stays in the relationship.

'It Cuts Deep' is an entertaining mix of dark comedy and horror. The film also deals with getting married and having children and the fears and anxiety that goes a long with it. Of course Sam takes all of his fears too whole other level. This Writer/Director, Nicholas Santos feature film debut. He has done a lot of short films but this is a very impressive debut. Especially when you consider that Sam isn't a very likable guy yet Santos keeps the film interesting and fun while building on suspense, tension and psychological horror that comes in the film's final act. The cast did a great job playing their characters including Charles Gould, Quinn Jackson and John Anderson. If you are a fan of Independent films then I highly recommend checking out this little gems. You will fall in love with its dark sense of humor and the film's more frightening aspects as well.

Dark Sky Films proudly presents the release of IT CUTS DEEP, available in select theaters and on VOD + digital platforms November 13th.
