Russell Redds (Ice Cube) and "Jellyroll" (Mike Epps), two louche, inexperienced concert promoters from California, get their huge break when they book a famous rap star (Young Jeezy, playing himself) for a small concert hall. But the duo is unprepared for the never-ending series of complications that threatens to derail the event.

It is hard to expect much from a movie it's own studio gave up on before it even had a chance at making any kind of noise at the box-office. The film got put in 20 or so theaters before being pulled and put right to DVD this week. The story is about two wannabe promoters who land a major deal that will bring the hottest rapper around to their city but just like everything they try and do things go from bad to worse. The film marks the first first time Mike Epps and Ice Cube(who wrote the film) have worked together since the Friday films. Like I said before I wasn't expecting much from this but I do like the leads so I went into it with an open mind. The film works well for what it is mainly because of it's cast and the hilarious situations these two guys get themselves in and out of. Little JJ plays the son of Russell in the film, he is a rapper, well he thinks he is anyway and his character brings out some good laughs. It is too bad this never got a chance in theaters to make some noise because with the popularity of Tyler Perry's films I think this could of at least made back what they spent on making it but I am sure this will be at the top of the rental charts in no time with strong word of mouth. Ice Cube is excellent here as he always is and Mike Epps I think stole the show, he is simply hilarious as Jellyroll. The film is brainless fun that sports a terrific and zany cast of characters and it also tosses in a few twists and turns along the way as well to keep you interested. If you like Urban comedies or just comedies in general then I recommend picking this up, it is an entertaining film that provides a lot of laughs. The DVD doesn't come with any Special Features but it is still worth it for the film alone. I found it funny enough to watch it a second time and I rarely ever go back to a film twice, give it a try I am sure you will agree this one is a sleeper hit.
