Like so many others out there I grew up watching the comedies of Jerry Lewis, He has always been the king as far as I was concerned making comedies that are were only hilarious but family friendly as well. "Method To The Madness Of Jerry Lewis" premiered on Encore which I missed seeing at the time but I was excited to see that it was being released on DVD. I Figured it would be a fun look back at his career both with Dean Martin and by himself but it turned out to be much more than just that.

The film does a good job showing his start even as a child and at least highlighting many of his great films but there are also many things that are revealed that I never knew about. The film not only reminds us how great he was as a comedian but as a filmmaker that was nothing short of a perfectionist, releasing nothing until he was fully satisfied with it first. Along with telling Jerry's amazing story the film is also full of interviews from stars such as Carol Burnett and Eddie Murphy and Jerry Seinfeld to name a few that give their stories and how they were influenced by Jerry.

The film is a great look at the career of one of the greatest comedians ever, I not only enjoyed a look back at some of his classic films but I also enjoyed seeing the man himself again in some candid interviews, at his age Jerry is still going strong and is working on several new films so if you're a fan keep your eyes peeled for those. I highly recommend "Method To The Madness Of Jerry Lewis" to those that know and love Jerry and his work but I also recommend it to those that may not know all that much about him or his films, this is a great way to get introduced to a comedy genius that has a huge catalog of entertainment waiting to be discovered.
