KID CANNABIS is the true story of Nate Norma (Jonathan Daniel Brown, PROJECT X), an Idaho teen dropout who builds a multimillion-dollar marijuana ring by partnering with his best friend (Kenny Wormald, FOOTLOOSE) and their pals to run drugs across the Canadian border.

Bankrolled by a deadly-serious dope czar (Ron Perlman, SONS OF ANARCHY) and supplied by an ex-government grower (John C. McGinley, SCRUBS), Nate's pursuit of the high life - complete with girls, guns, and vicious rival dealers - may leave this ex-pizza boy in way over his head.

"Kid Cannabis" tells the story of Nate Norman, a high school drop out living at home with his younger brother and mom who is a struggling waitress in Idaho. Since he doesn't have an education he works odd jobs to help out like delivering pizza. He also loves weed and reads High Times magazine religiously. After doing some research he finds out that Canada has the best weed and that it is easy to walk the stash across the border but he doesn't have the capital to get the business going so he enlists the help of a local drug pin who finances him and his best friend. They get a team together, some will be the runners, others will be the drivers and Nate will be the brains behind it all.

The problem is Nate and his cohorts are young and there is no loyalty inside the group, Nate is also flashing his wealth around way too much which ends up leading to trouble.

Based on a true story so I was interested in checking it out but I was a bit concerned because the art work made the film look like an all out comedy but thankfully that was not the case. That is not to say there is no humor in the film, it has its fair share of comedy but for the most part the story is told in a serious matter. I have to admit I liked this film, perhaps more than I should of but it kept me engaged and it kept me wanting to find out what was going to happen to Nate, his family and his band of cohorts. The story is told with the help of a voiceover from Nate, I like a voiceover from time to time and it works great here. The story is also fast moving and it contains just the right amount of comedy and hot females both in and out of their bikinis to keep all you guys interested.

The film looks and sounds great for a Indie and the cast all did a great job including, Jonathan Daniel Brown as Nate, Kenny Wormald as his best friend and Ron Perlman as the dealer who backs Nate and his venture.

I suppose this is not going to be a film for everyone but if you like true stories that deal with drugs then I recommend checking this one out. I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to. "Kid Cannabis" is available on DVD and Blu-ray with no Special Features. You can order the DVD HERE and the Blu-ray HERE.

You can read more about Nate and his story HERE as well.
