After kidnapping and ruthlessly assaulting two teen girls, a sadistic killer and his gang unknowingly find shelter from a storm at the home of one of the victim's parents-- two ordinary people who will go to increasingly gruesome extremes to get revenge.

This remake to the 1972 horror flick is often gruesome, gross and plain disturbing to watch at times but hey if you didn't know that before seeing this film then I really can't feel sorry for you being upset and being offended. Yes there were a lot of people upset when this came out in theaters, some left the theater during the rape scene and never returned but like I said the original had the same scene but with more flesh shown. But I do agree this can be a hard thing to watch if this sort of thing bothers you so if you get upset easy I suggest you pass by this film and move on to something a lot less tense. Wes Cravens 'original' The Last House on the Left is a cult classic so when I heard they were doing a remake I was taken back a bit, I am not a big fan of remakes and for the most part none ever live up to their originals. This 2009 version is directed by,Dennis Iliadis who has only done one other film from behind the camera but I got to say that he does a great job at jacking up the tension and keeping it there till the shocking ending. There are some great twists along the way and a lot of violence as well, like the tag line says "If someone hurt someone you love, how far would you go to get revenge"? I cannot imagine what I or anyone else might do if we were in that position so the violence in a way believable and has to be expected. For a murder/revenge flick this might push the limits at times and the rape scene could of maybe been toned down some but over-all taking it for what it is this was a solid flick that brings the suspense and tension to a new level and leaves u hanging on to your seat waiting to see what happens next. The cast was excellent, Monica Potter and Tony Goldwyn are fantastic as the young girl's parents who find out that the group that has asked for shelter are responsible for attacking their daughter and friend. They were fantastic in the early part of the film and just as awesome later when the film went into revenge mode. The rest of the cast were all terrific as well. I could to say without sounding satanic that the original film was a bit more graphic and I thought this was going to push it even more but in a lot of ways this one was a little tamer but don't get me wrong a lot of people are going to disagree with me on that one because this film is pretty graphic by itself. The Last House on The Left is a worthy remake, a thrill ride of revenge and murder that delivers on what it promises. If you seen the original and liked it then I suggest picking this one up and checking it out I am sure you will find this to be an enjoyable flick as well. The DVD comes with both the Theatrical and Unrated Versions. Also it contains the Special Features:
