The film manly focuses on the trial of Leslie Van Houten, a member of the infamous Manson Family, and a young male juror, Perry would falls for her smile and good looks to the point where he begins to take her side. The film jumps around a lot as it explores two backgrounds, that of the typical middle-class conservative family of the 1960s and the underworld of Charles Manson and his cult followers. We get to see Leslie being seduced into a cult of violence in one back-story while the other has Perry struggling with his desire to stay out of the Vietnam War against the wishes of his very patriotic father who is also overbearing . Perry then meets Dorothy, an attractive "All-American" Christian girl, who wants to marry him one day but also believes that Perry should serve his country in war first. The film is violent, campy and very humorous at times like for instance Manson's women show up in court wearing sexy outfits instead of prison uniforms. There's a lot of fun here to be had but I can't say that this is going to be for everyone. Some might get offended by how the whole Manson thing is treated in a satanic yet humorous way while others might grow a bit bored or confused early on since the film does a lot of jumping around but it all blends together well as they film moves along I found it to be a pleasant surprise and one film that just might gain a cult following upon it's release to DVD from strong word of mouth. The cast here is excellent, Gregory Smith does an amazing job playing the boyish Perry, the film his basically his and he takes the role and runs with. Also Kristen Hager is perfect as Leslie, she plays evil and sexy at the same time and she does it very well. The rest of the cast was exceptional as well and everything about the production from it's lighting to the cinematography down to amazing soundtrack was all top-notch.

If your looking for a film about Manson that is straight forward I recommend you look elsewhere but if you're looking for something a bit more satanic in humor or just looking to see something different for a change then I highly recommend picking this one up, I think you will be surprised at just how entertaining the film is. Manson, My Name is Evil is one of those little gems that only comes out every once in a very long while, this is something I will certainly revisit at some point because it simply demands it.
