Take out the trash, eat your broccoli — who needs moms anyway? Nine-year-old Milo (Seth Green) finds out how much he needs his mom (Joan Cusack) when she's nabbed by Martians who plan to steal her mom-ness for their own young. In a race against time and oxygen, his quest to save her knows no bounds. And with some unexpected help, Milo just might find his way back to her — in more ways than one.

"Mars Needs Moms" might be uneven at times but I think it deserved more than it got at the box-office and I think the bad press it received was somewhat unwarranted. The story is about Milo, a young boy like any other that simply has to be pushed by his mother to do what he is asked to do, one night after his mother calls him out he lashes back at her with some cruel words, but then he can't sleep because he feels sorry for what he said so he goes to tell his mom that he's sorry. But just as he is heading to his mom's room he sees an alien ship taking her away, determined to save her he hitches a ride and thus our story begins.

The story is colorful and funny and it's characters are loyal, caring and determined but the even though it's a bit uneven it's strongest attribute is the love between a mother and a child or the meaning of family matters most in general which is the sole reason my rating on this film will be much higher than others you might have seen. Don't get me wrong I can see some of the things that a lot of critics bashed over as well but I also see a lot of good things that easily make up for it's flaws. This is a family film for all ages to enjoy together and it also gives some wonderful lessons for our young ones, what more can you ask for? Children are not going to notice any of the film's downfalls, instead they are just going to have fun with all the colorful characters and they are going to get plenty of laughs a long the way as well plus the messages the film gives are loud and clear so I expect them to take note as well. I found "Mars Needs Moms" to be much better than I expected which was a pleasant surprise.
