Rebellious teenager Dorian (Anton Yelchin) and his serious new friend, Grace (Eva Amurri), go into business selling pot in this engaging indie drama. Dorian wants financial independence, and Grace needs funds for medical school after her mother (Susan Sarandon) screws up her finances. But when the business gets complicated, so do their lives, as both Grace and Dorian find themselves dealing with issues from the past.

Middle of Nowhere is a little Indie drama that benefits from a solid plot about three teens trying to cope with problems in their lives. The film also benefits from a fantastic cast that includes the always wonderful Susan Sarandon, also the actors that play the three lead girls, Anton Yelchin, Eva Amurri and Willa Holland give wonderful, moving performances. Director, John Stockwell has create a little gem similar to another film he made, Crazy/Beautiful, this is his first film away from a water setting and it is a breath of fresh air. John has create a sensitive film that is at times dramatic and at others funny, the mix is perfect and it makes for a highly entertaining teen romp. A character study that mixes many themes together to create these people that are believable and realistic, I found it very easy to feel for everyone in the film. Anymore it seems Independent cinema is where you find the little gems, stories that touch you in some way and Middle of Nowhere is one of those rare films. If you like drama then I highly recommend picking this one up today, it certainly is a film that will have you laughing and maybe even crying a little before it is all said and done. A touching film that succeeds on all levels. Also it's noteworthy to point out that real life mother and daughter Susan Sarandon and Eva Amurri, playing a mother and daughter, it is great to see a legend playing along side her daughter who looks to have a long career in acting as well. The DVD and BLU-ray both come with Special Features that include:
