Amidst a bloody backdrop of chaos and carnage, one panicked, lowly survivor of the Monster Apocalypse takes shelter in a movie theater to buy himself a few extra moments of precious life. Little does he know, he’s taken a flying leap out of the frying pan and smack dab into the fires of hell by attending the last movie marathon he’ll ever see. Welcome to Monsterland! A terrifying place where savage beasts, carnivorous creatures and grotesque abominations are the new normal, and the human race is now at the bottom of the food chain.

"Monsterland" is a new horror Anthology directed by Graham Denman (The Divine Tragedies), Jack Fields (“Happy Memories”), Erik Gardner (Dreamtakers), Andrew Kasch (Tales of Halloween, Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy), Patrick Longstreth (“Hellyfish”), Sander Maran (“Curiosity Kills”), Robert Mclean (“Hellyfish”), The McCoubrey Brothers (“The Grey Matter”), Corey Norman (The Invoking 2), John Skipp (Tales of Halloween , A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child) and Frank J. Sudol (“Tales of the Dim”).

"Monsterland" centers on one man on the run during a monster apocalypse, as he passes a movie theater he decides to go inside and once he enters he decides to stay for the feature showing to enjoy a little more of life before joining the rest who have already died. This kind of Horror Anthology seems to be popular now where they take numerous short films and put them are in one film. It is a good idea if it works and if they can come up with enough Shorts that have the same theme like for instance monsters. They have done that here and I enjoyed almost every single one of the Short films in the movie. I am not going to get into plot details for each short simply because I do not want to ruin the surprises that await those of you wanting to see the movie.

Instead I will just say that I had a blast, there were one or two Shorts that I thought killed the momentum of the film a bit but it recovered quickly with the next one. The acting in all the Short films was excellent and some of the actors include, Josh LaCasse (Space Clown) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (HBO’s “Girls,” TNT’s “The Last Ship”).

"Monsterland" is a highly entertaining Horror film that showcases some of the best film makers around today. It is fun, frightening, disturbing and it will have you laughing and cringing, sometimes at the same time. This is one of the better Anthology films to come out. A terrific collection of films that make you feel so many different emotions but most of all it was just a load of fun.
