When a ruthless corporate-sponsored scientist develops an additive designed to make ordinary sugar wildly addictive, the chemical mutates his imprisoned test subjects into savage, bloodthirsty zombies. Now, the corporation's crack security team must contain the threat before the mutants escape and the poisoned sugar gets into the mainstream food supply.

I try to find something good or at least decent in every film I review if it is a big budget flick or a low budget flick but I had a hard time with this one. Two things grab your attention before even watching this, one is the art-work, this has to be the most deceiving cover I have ever seen because there isn't a creature in the film that even comes close to the one on the cover. Second is the cast, it lists the stars as being Michael Ironside and Steven Bauer which is pretty damn exciting in itself but they play very small roles in the film. They are in the movie but barely. As far as story goes it is much too slow for the genre with way too much talking and drama and very little in the way of mutants until the very end. I love Independent cinema and firmly support it but this one just doesn't live up to the promise. Sadly I cannot recommend this one to anyone, if your looking for something zombie like there are many other choices out there that are at least a little entertaining . Mutants pretty much fails on all aspects, the story is slow, the effects are bad and the acting is wooden and you never care about any character in the film. This one went wrong long before filming began and that is too bad as I did like the idea on paper at least.

Released by North American Motion Pictures.
