Dwight (Patrick Fugit) prowls the streets after dark. He searches each night for the lonely and forlorn, looking for people who won't be missed. Dwight takes no joy in this, but he needs their blood. Without fresh human blood, his fragile young brother Thomas cannot survive. Each death takes a larger toll, the burden of his crimes weighing heavier each time, threatening to crack his spirit. But Thomas (Owen Campbell) and his sister Jessie (Ingrid Sophie Schram) are all the family Dwight has left, and as a fiercely private and close-knit family unit, they depend on him and the rituals they've learned in order to keep their secret. But while Dwight yearns for another life, Jessie needs them to stay together. And always the boy must feed.

'My Heart Can't Beat Unless You Tell It To' is a drama/horror film that begs the question...How far would you be willing to go for your family? This is the feature film debut of Writer/Director, Jonathan Cuartas and he has set the bar high for himself but I look forward to seeing what he does next.

'My Heart Can't Beat Unless You Tell It To' is an example of just how good Independent Cinema really is. The film has a good amount of blood but this is a character driven drama. Sure there are disturbing moments in the film but at the heart of it is a family willing to do anything for one another regardless of the cost.

With a film like this you have to have really good acting to pull it off and this cast was up to the challenge. Patrick Fugit who plays Dwight, Ingrid Sophie Schram who plays Jessie and Owen Campbell who plays Thomas are all amazing in the film. The rest of the supporting cast all gave great performances as well.

'My Heart Can't Beat Unless You Tell It To' is a slow burn that sucks you in right from the start and it gets in your head early. It is a disturbing yet heartbeat drama/horror that leaves you thinking about it long after it is over. 'My Heart Can't Beat Unless You Tell It To' Arrives On Blu-ray and DVD on August 10th. If you are a fan of horror and/or Independent Cinema then I highly recommend checking out this gem.
