David Kosinski lives in the crime infested capital of L.A. known as New Angeles. David seems to always be in the principal's office at the college he attends. When he gets caught with cigarettes which are considered an illegal drug he gets kicked out of college and is sentenced to house arrest. David was a writer at school and ran a blog, his boredom leads him to being writing political statements on his blog which gets him some unneeded attention. He gets the attention of an underground nationalist group who kidnaps him and then asks for his help but the trouble doesn't end there. Soon two government agents take him in for interrogation. They want him to get in with the nationalist group and report back on what they say and do. David doesn't really know what he is in for or how deep he is about go but when he finds out what the nationalist group is really up to me must make the decision of his life.

On paper "The New Republic" looked like an interested political thriller set in the near future but I wasn't sure how it would play out but after watching the film I can say that this is a very intriguing and thought-provoking thriller that delivers on all fronts. There's a lot going on in the film but Writer/Director, Jeoff Hanser does a great job keeping the film moving at a fast pace while telling a clever and intelligent story.

There's a number of twists along the way to keep you a bit off-guard and the story is full of lies and deceits that only heightens the over-all suspense. Director, Jeoff Hanser also got himself a great cast to play these interesting characters, Owen Beckman is amazing as David but he is not alone here. The film has multiple characters through-out and everyone in the film did a fantastic job playing their roles. The film is a perfect blend of great story-telling and an awesome cast.

This is a hard film to talk about without ruining it for those waiting to see it but if you like a good thriller I highly recommend checking it out. A smart, intelligent film that draws you in from it's opening scene and it keeps your attention the entire time. I really liked the story and the ending was perfect. A thinking-man's thriller that doesn't miss a beat.
