Nightmare Alley is a collection of shorts in the tradition of such films as "Creepshow", before each one a creepy looking guy introduces each film with a line or two setting up the film you are about to see. Obviously shot on a very low budget the film does suffer in spots from it but over-all I thought it was an ambitious and entertaining movie. The stories vary, some are more entertaining than others but they all supply a nice dose of gore and what else can you really ask for here. The acting much like the stories themselves varies from bad to average but again for the most part the actors do a fine job here. The killings are plenty and are mostly done using knifes and a hatchet and the effects besides a few are really well done and there's a lot of blood and guts as well. Nightmare Alley isn't going to match up to similar films with bigger budgets but it is still a fun film that offers enough carnage and even some very funny humor to make for an enjoyable time. I can't say it is going to be for everyone but if you're a fan of Independent films the I suggest picking it up when it comes out on DVD on August 10th.

The film won numerous awards at festivals which includes:

Schlockfest Australia Finalist (2007)

Brunswick Film Festival Winner (2008)

Schlockfest Australia Official Selection (2009)

Laurence Holloway and Scarlet Fry both co-wrote and directed the film and you can see their love for the genre, obviously this was a labor of love for all involved and it certainly looks like they had a great time making the film. I can't say I liked every story, a few seemed too rushed but for the most part they were easy to get into and were bloody enough to please fans of the genre.
