This Disneynature documentary from co-directors Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud examines the vital role water plays in human existence and the cause-and-effect interplay between oceans and the environment. Shot on location around the world, the feature-length film also dives beneath the surface with stunning underwater photography that documents lesser-known and endangered aquatic life forms.
There has been many documentaries like this by Jacques Cousteau, PBS, Nature, National Geographic, Travel, etc... but even if you seen most or all of them this Disney production offers some new and exciting things as well. This is a visually stunning nature documentary that takes you to oceans all over the world and you get to see life-forms you never knew even existed. Breath-taking oceans full of sound and visuals that will having you in awe of it all. There were several species on fish I have never heard of before which was a pleasant surprise since I have seen a good number of shows like this in the past. Documentaries such as this can sometimes become a bit boring as the go on simply because the makers throw out too many facts and never really give the audience a chance to enjoy what they are seeing but Oceans is very different, it does supply us with certain facts but it also lets us enjoy the marvels that are on display before our eyes. Pierce Brosnan does a terrific job of narrating the film and the soundtrack used could not of been more perfect. The narration does a great job in teaching us but it never over-whelms the film, instead there are pauses inbetween to let you take in everything you see and at times it is very playful but educational all on it's own.
You can really connect with the animals on the screen in their own habitat, if you like these kinds of nature documentaries then owning this is a no-brainer, I loved everything about it and it makes for some amazing entertainment that the whole family can enjoy together because instead of being just for adults like so many like it this one targets children as well.
