Upon rousing themselves from hyper-sleep, Payton (Dennis Quaid) and Bower (Ben Foster), a pair of crewmen assigned to work on a spacecraft, discover startling gaps in their collective memory -- including who they are and what, exactly, their mission was in the first place. The plot thickens when they realize they're not the only ones on board the ship.
This is hard film to tell people about because the more you might say the more of what makes this so good are going to give away. This is one of the films that the less you know about it going in the better. You can compare this to several other movies if you wanted to but I thought it brought along it's own ideas as well. From the opening frames the mystery begins to thicken, you want to know right off the bat what is going on, where are these men,why don't they remember anything? The suspense thickens as the film moves along and the mystery keeps you on the edge of your seat. The action is fact paced and once they find out they are not alone the fun really begins. Dennis Quaid is a fine actor and he does a great job here but the main actor in the film is Ben Foster and he steals every scene of the movie he is in. Director, Christian Alvart has a great eye for suspense and telling a story the right way and he doesn't disappoint here but it didn't hurt that he had such an original and suspenseful story written by Travis Milloy to work with. This is a must-see for sci-fi fans but horror buffs are going to really enjoy this too, there are times in the film when you get some gore but mostly you are left sitting at the edge of your seat waiting and wanting to know more as the tension builds and there is plenty of action mixed in as well. The pieces of the puzzle are given out a little at a time and with the tremendous atmosphere created and tension level high you can't help but hold on for dear life. In a time when when see a lot of sequels and remakes it is nice to see a refreshing sci-fi come along, sure the film might borrow some things from past movies but everything else about it not only makes it one of the more original films of the past year but one of the the more entertaining films in any genre as well. I highly recommend picking this up on DVD or Blu-ray, this is one film I can honestly say is worth owning.
