The Place For The Latest Movie Reviews
Cast: Brian Krause, Steven Helmkamp, Anne McDaniel, Candice Nunes
A small, secluded island off the coast of Belize suddenly finds itself terrorized by a deadly predator from the planet's distant past, when deep sea divers accidentally awaken an ancient evil. Jackson Slate and his team of underwater cave explorers unearth much more than long-lost Mayan treasure while plumbing the depths of a world famous blue hole. They disturb a creature that's been hibernating for over 60,000 years - a rampaging behemoth of death and destruction not only at sea but also on land.
"Poseidon Rex" is a fun little film that resembles most movies like it that air on the Syfy Channel in terms of camp and average to below average special effects but with the right mind set this is an enjoyable film.
I am not going to go in to any more plot details here so not to ruin the fun but the synopsis above is plenty to know before sitting down to watch it. The film was directed by Mark L. Lester(Commando, Firestarter), Mark keeps the film moving at a great pace and the actors give good performances including the always reliable Brian Krause and the beautiful Anne McDaniels. The effects look weak at times and pretty good other times but this is to be expected from a low budget film like this one.
I enjoyed the film and all its cheese and there is also a nice bit of eye candy for the men out there as well. "Poseidon Rex" is not a film to remember but it is a fun way to pass some time so if you like a good low budget monster flick then I recommend checking this out. The timing of the DVD release could not be better since "Godzilla" is due out soon in theaters. The DVD comes with Special Features that include:
