I am not what you call a regular gamer, I played the game a few times but I'm sure many of you that are more into video games have been looking forward to seeing this one from the time is was first announced. For those of you that may not of ever played the game or even heard of it the film is a throwback of sorts to the Arabian Nights type films that were so popular in the 50's and 60's when films such as this were made often. I may not be saying much but this is probably one of the best movies ever made that is based on a video game. This is a sprawling adventure filled with fun characters and plenty of fantasy action. You are not going to get a direct adaptation here because the game simply isn't complex enough to fill out the film's run time so there are elements added but they mix in well with the story. The cast all did a fine job, Jake Gyllenhaal makes a solid action hero as the courageous Prince Dastan who is framed for a heinous act and must clear his name while Gemma Arterton is fine as Princess Tamina, who is the protector of the mystical Dagger of Time. The two stars have nice chemistry together and it makes for some fun dialogue between them. Ben Kingsley is his usual self, it was a wise decision for the filmmakers to cast him as Vizier. Then you have have Alfred Molina as Sheik Amar, Molina is the highlight of the film as far as the cast goes, he steals every scene he is in.

I don't think game fans are going to be too disappointed with this one and even if you don't play, like I stated before if you're a fan of film's such as "Aladdin" I think you are going to enjoy this one. Prince of Persia is nothing more than a summer time popcorn flick but it serves it's purpose well. There's a good enough story to follow until the next action scene comes along and the fantasy is cool and fun. The film will never win any major awards and to be honest before watching this I was starting to grow a bit bored of these types of films but I had a fun time watching it and I thing those of you you like this sort of film are going to be entertained as well. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time arrives on 3-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy), 1-Disc Blu-ray and 1-Disc DVD. The film also comes loaded with Special Features that include:

Making-Of Featurette
