I was looking forward to seeing this for a number of reasons, first off I am a big fan of Patrick Warburton. For a big man you would think he is going to be some menacing character but his comedic talent is brilliant and he really shines as Rock Slyde. Also Andy Dick is hilarious here as the owner of a quasi-religious cult, he begins a turf war with Rock Slyde that leads to one over-the-top scene after another. The film takes a poke at the film-noir genre making for a refreshing and original romp. This type of slap-stick comedy might not be for everyone but for those that "get it" this is a gem that demands multiple viewings. There are too many memorable scenes and dialogue in the film to even mention but to do so would only ruin the film for those wanting to see it. The is the debut feature film of Writer/Director, Chris Dowling, impressive is putting it mildly here because Chris has created a comedy his first time out that others in his art only dream of making. I had to watch this twice because after it's brisk pacing ended in 86 minutes I was left wanting more and the second time around I caught things I missed the first time around and I had just as much fun watching the film as I did the first time. It takes a complete effort to make a film such as this successful and it seems like everyone was up to the challenge, everything from the sets to the score were perfect. The film also contains some surprising but pleasant cameos a long the way as well. The film belongs to Patrick and Andy but the entire cast delivers on every level. If you like comedy then this is a film that should not be missed. The film is available now on Amazon's Video On Demand and on Netflix's Watch Instantly. The DVD will be available to own on June 22nd from Monarch Home Video. You can preorder the DVD HERE. Also you can visit the Official Rock Slyde Website HERE where among other things is a link to their mailing list you can join to be notified when the DVD becomes available.

Rock Slyde is off-the-wall fun that breaths new life into a stagnant comedy genre. This is the type of film that gains instant cult status and once you see it you are going to be telling friends and family about it. I highly recommend owning one of the best comedies to come out in a very long time. Chris Dowling is a Director to keep your eye on and I for one look forward to seeing what he has up is sleeve next.
