In 1987, just days after his 10th birthday, Carl Merryweather rocked the local news community when he claimed he was visited by an extraterrestrial life form. Despite other alleged sightings reported that same evening, skeptical authorities shrugged off the claims. Now, almost three obsessive decades later, Carl is set on a mission to reunite with the being he calls ‘the Skyman’ to not only prove the skeptics wrong but to ultimately find his own true sense of purpose. Through first-hand home videos interwoven with news footage and interviews, Skyman is a bold and compelling study of the fascinating and unquestioning world of UFO subculture.

'Skyman' tells the story of Carl Merryweather who claims to have been visited by an Alien when he was only 10-years-old. He claims the alien told him that it would return for him in 30 years. Now Carl gets ready as his 40th birthday approaches. Carl doesn't have many friends as most people think he is crazy but he does have his sister, Gina and his friend, Marcus.

'Skyman' is of course a Faux SciFi Documentary meant to take a look at those that claim to have witnessed UFO's and those that do not believe in such things. The film was written and directed by, Daniel Myrick who co-directed 'The Blair Witch Project. I take it his goal was to make a character study and he did a good job at telling Carl's story. You do feel for the guy who really doesn't have a life due to his obsession.

The cast did a very good job playing their characters in a realistic way. Michael Selle who plays Carl, Nicolette Sweeney who plays his sister, Gina and Faleolo Alailima who plays his friend, Marcus are all a big reason the film succeeds.

'Skyman' doesn't have any action or amazing special effects but I did find it to be engaging and I would recommend it to anyone that is interested in UFO's and the whole movement. The film is playing now at Drive-In's and it will be on VOD on July 7th.
