When a traveling carnival sets up shop in town, Justin (Thomas Middleditch) discovers the girl of his dreams, a shrewd carnie named Galaxy (Rachael Taylor). But to win over this sexy con artist's heart, Justin must get his life in order and deal with her scary boyfriend, Reggie.

This is one of those rare, never heard about comedies that sneaks up on you by being much better than you ever expected it to be. The film is about Justin, a slacker who says his goal in life is to set no goals. One day when he stops at a local gas station to fill up the attendant, a beautiful female named Galaxy serves him and takes his cash. The problem is she doesn't work for the gas station at all and it gets Justin in trouble with the local sheriff who has a thing for his mother who recently broke off with him. Then you have the Carny that comes to town and to Justin's amazement the same beautiful woman that conned him works there as well. From there they slowly get to know one another and it begins to blossom into a romance but the only problem is her boyfriend who also works at the carny and is trouble. The story has some back stories to it which makes it a little more complex than you might be use to seeing, also there is a lot of situational comedy in the film which makes it hard to talk about without ruining the experience for those that haven't seen it yet. Thomas Middleditch is great as Justin, he is very funny and his facial expressions and physical comedy are hilarious. Also Rachael Taylor is amazing as his bad girl love interest. The film is a classic dork gets hot chick tale but the writing here is superb. I must mention actor Jason Mantzoukas who plays The Amazing Steve who is a magician at the carny, his character is so funny and he steals every scene he is in. "Splinterheads" has a lot to offer with it's great mix of comedy, romance and even some good action at times. It's a funny,heart-warming and even touching romantic comedy that leaves you feeling good long after it's over. The film has enough to offer for both men and women so if you want to see something funny I recommend picking this one up, it is certainly better than a lot of what Hollywood is putting out lately.
