One day Terkel finds a way to be cool, sadly it involves making fun of his best friends’ sister and his girlfriend, what is a sixth grader to do? Make fun of her and call her a fat pig! When the abuse from Terkel is too much, she throws herself out a window which only makes Terkel more popular. Now dealing with popularity Terkel finds solace is booze, guns and everything American. But then life takes a turn for the weird when he receives strange death threats, unable to confide in his annoying sister or alcoholic uncle Stewart, Terkel turns to his teacher, a stoned out hippie with intentionally hilarious results.

Terkel is a animated horror/mystery/comedy from Denmark. I know that sounds like a lot but there is a lot going on here in this off-the-wall film. The film was originally released in 2004 but is now only getting released in the U.S. and going off the trailer it will have an English dubbed track as well. The copy I received is in it's original language with English subtitles and looking at parts from the U.S. trailer and comparing them to this release I can tell you that some of the dialogue is going to be different but both are full of raunchy yet hilarious moments. The movie is being called a Danish "South Park" and I can see Trey Parker and Matt Stone doing something like this but lets not sell Terkel short because it brings plenty of it's own ideas to the table. Really to go into the story anymore than what is already written above would only ruin the film for those waiting to see it. One thing I can say about Terkel is expect the unexpected, this is a film loaded with adult humor and violence that will have any fan of this type of animation laughing from beginning to end. Plus the Animation matches all the zaniness that is going on in the film. I ended up watching this twice because with subtitled movies some times you miss some of what is being said and I found things I missed the first time around so there is certainly a lot going on here. Terkel in Trouble is different for sure, it is off-the-wall,funny crazy and one of the most enjoyable animated features I have seen in some time, as far as adult entertainment goes it doesn't get any better than this. I hope at some point to be able to see the English version of the film but in the mean time I had a great time watching this version, keep your eyes peeled for Terkel, if you're a fan of this sort of animation then you are not going to want to miss out on this one.
