He wants to be left alone, but Arlen Faber (Jeff Daniels), author of a best-selling book about spirituality, finds himself harassed by single mom Elizabeth (Lauren Graham) and recovering addict Kris (Lou Taylor Pucci), who think Arlen can solve their problems. Arlen knows he has no real answers, but as he and Elizabeth fall in love, they all discover hope in unexpected places.

The Answer Man is a romance/comedy that takes you back to when the genre was funny and touching. I suppose you can tell that this is more of a film for the ladies but I certainly enjoyed it not only for the mix of drama, comedy and romance but for the cast as well. Jeff Daniels to me has always been an underrated actor and he owns this film, he handles all aspects of the film with ease and is a pleasure to watch. Lauren Graham is also terrific as the single mom, both do not see eye to eye at first but soon after they find themselves falling in love. A warm and entertaining film that I was taken in by from the opening frames, there is nothing really ground-breaking here but the still manages to be different enough to keep you engaged the entire time. The film has a few sub-plots that could of been explored a little more but over-all to me this was an excellent feel good movie that charms you as well as inspires. Among all the really bad movies that have come out this one stands out as a gem that is a pleasure to watch. If you enjoy the genre then I cannot recommend this enough.
