I am not a fan of remakes in general and we all know there has been many dreadful ones released but this one takes the original 1973 George Romero film and gives it the budget the story deserves. Aside from correcting some of the flaws from the original's low budget the new effects also help out a great deal. For a film like this I was surprised that the acting was as good as it was, Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell are both amazing in the film but the entire cast did a terrific job at making their characters as believable as possible and you really care for them which is something you rarely see in horror today. There is plenty of action, jump scares and gore but the film also does a great job at create some amazing suspense as well which I thought was the film's biggest strength besides it's cast. I have to say the R rating certainly made this a better film than most of the PG-13 movies that have come out, if you are going to make a horror film why not do it up right and the film-makers certainly did here. As far as horror goes this is one of the better ones I have seen in awhile and I really liked the ending as well. If you're a fan of horror then I highly suggest you pick up The Crazies today, it is a thrilling, roller coaster ride in fear. The film is available on Blu-ray and DVD it contains special features that include:
