Hoping to raise enough capital to finance a legitimate business and leave behind his life of crime, Liverpool underworld boss Ged Brennan (Scot Williams) sends his brother Ratter (Kenny Doughty) and a crew to pull a daring final heist. But when Ratter kills a drug kingpin during the job, Brennan must turn to rival crook Franner (Stephen Graham) to avert an all-out gangland war.

As far as movies go that are unpleasant to watch as far as story and characters who are not very likeable The Crew has to rank high on the list. Now I am not saying that this isn't a good film in fact it is a very good film it is just that the story shows the graphic picture of gangster life in a realistic and brutal way. There is a lot to like here if your into this sort of action/thriller, the cast is perfect for each of their roles, I do not think they could of been cast any better actors to play these characters. The story is solid, on paper it might sound like any other gangster flick but the story is well-written with twists a long the way to keep you at the edge of your seat. The film not only provides plenty of action and thrills but the plot follows different stories and is divided for different characters so there's always something new to provide which keeps you engaged the entire time. Humorous, brutal, touching and at times chilling makes this one of the better gangster films I have seen in some time, if your a fan of the genre I highly recommend picking this up today, you will not be disappointed. This is one of those movies that just isn't going to be for everyone as it can be tough to watch at times with the violence and all but as the film moves a long it all comes together and it makes for a highly entertaining film.
