In Gracefield, three couples are spending a long weekend in a luxurious cabin when suddenly an uninvited guest in the form of a meteorite, comes crashing the party...

'The Gracefield Incident' tells the story of Matthew and Jessica Donovan. As the film opens, they are on their way to the hospital for Jessica's second ultrasound as the couple are expecting their first child. Matthew is determined to record every moment of the pregnancy but while driving to the hospital they are blind sided by another car.

Jessica loses the baby and Matthew loses an eye as a result. Fast forward 10 months, the couple is getting ready to go up to a cabin in Gracefield with two other couples to spend a nice weekend of partying and relaxing. Matthew has made himself a camera in the form of an eye, he plans on using it to record all the fun and making a video for his doctor/friend who is also joining him on the trip.

Not long after they are all settled in some meteor zooms through the sky and right above the cabin. Curious, Matthew and Joe take off to see if they can find where it landed which they do. In a hole in the ground Matthew finds a small rock or meteor and decides he is going to keep it but there is something else in the woods that seems to be interested in Matthew and his friends. After they make it back to the cabin they decide to stay the night before heading back but what is hunting them seems determined to never let them leave.

'The Gracefield Incident' is another in a long line of found footage movies. It doesn't really offer up anything new nor does it break any new ground but for the most part I found it to be entertaining.

Billed as an Action, Horror, Mystery, I was able to figure out what the creatures wanted very early on which I think everyone will so there wasn't much mystery to me. There wasn't much in the way of horror either, you never get a really good look at what is stalking them until the end which I was fine with but there is no blood or gore in the film. It is a Sci-fi that does manage to create some decent suspense and tension though. For the majority of the film there is a lot of talking and running around and away from what is chasing them. I am not going to go into any more details here about what happens so not to ruin the film for those of you that want to see the film.

There were a few things I enjoyed about the film, one was the acting which I thought was very good. Writer/Director, Mathieu Ratthe also plays Matthew in the film and I thought he did a very good job. I was also very impressed with Kimberly Laferriere who plays his wife, Jessica. The rest of the cast did a good job as well playing their roles.

The special effects were what I expected for an Independent film, none are great but they get the job done especially at the end. And speaking of the ending, to me it was the best part of the film. After all the running around and screaming I was hoping the film would pay off in the end and it does. Of course the end could have been better as well but it was still good if not expected.

'The Gracefield Incident' is Director, Mathieu Ratthe's first feature film so I believe there is a lot of room for improvement and I can't wait to see what he does next. The film may not be great but it kept my interest and I didn't feel like I wasted my time watching it. So if it sounds like something you might like then be sure to check it out. The film is in Theaters and on VOD now.
