A lonely woman caring for her domineering father is pushed to the brink when a figure from her past re-enters her life.

"The ID" tells the story of Meredith who still lives in her old family home with her elderly father. She spends all of her days and nights taking care of him because he is sick and unable to care for himself. Meridith is lonely and yearns to have her own life but her father's abusive ways have kept her a prisoner in their home. When she receives a phone call from an old classmate who she had a relationship with she decides that she wants to go out with him for dinner but when her father rejects the idea and threatens her it sends her on a downward spiral of insanity.

"The ID" is a taut and disturbing drama/thriller that puts the audience inside the head of Meridith, a woman who has withstood so much psychical and emotional abuse at the hands of her father ever since she was a little girl. The film only has a few main characters which are Meridith, her father and a nosey social worker who brings food for him every day. This is a character-driven thriller that counts on its cast and they do a terrific job.

Genre fave Amanda Wyss gives an award worthy performance as Meridith. In the beginning you really feel for her and as the film moves along you are taken inside her tortured mind and you feel all her pain. Patrick Peduto is also fantastic as her father, a man whose life is so miserable that he doesn't want to see his own daughter happy either. The rest of the supporting cast is all great as well but it is Amanda Wyss and Patrick Peduto who carry the film. They play off each other perfectly.

I am not going to sit here and give away the entire story because this is one of those films that needs and deserves to be seen. The story is simple but the performances are not to be missed. Available on Blu-ray October 25th with Special Features that include:

"The ID" is a drama/thriller that takes you on a journey to insanity through the mind of a woman who finally cracks after years and years of abuse from the one person she should be able to trust the most, her father. The film slowly builds on suspense and tension as it moves a long and it all leads to an emotional and heartbreaking climax. I really enjoyed the film and I thought it showcases one of the finest performances of the year in the form of Amanda Wyss. I cannot recommend seeing "The ID" enough, I suspect this is going to be a huge sleeper hit once word of mouth gets out.
