Every year, 10 of the world’s most lethal death row criminals are chosen to compete for their freedom in The Jurassic Games, a television show where contestants must survive against a variety of ferocious dinosaurs. The players all die gruesomely in the game zone except for one, the last one standing, the winner, who is granted not only his freedom, but fame and fortune. Survive the dinosaurs. Survive each other. Survive…The Jurassic Games.

'The Jurassic Games' takes place in the not too distant future where death row inmates are allowed to take part in a new virtual reality game show which pits them against each other and dinosaurs. Only one will remain alive at the end and will be given his or her life back.

The film is a combo of "Jurassic Park" meets "The Running Man" and "The Hunger Games." To be honest I went into this not expecting a whole lot but I was surprised to find out that it was a fun and entertaining film. The film has quite a bit going for it including the acting which for the most part was excellent. It is an ensemble piece but two actors that stood out for me was Adam Hampton who plays Tucker, a man who insists he is not guilty, he is also a fan favorite. The other actor was, Katie Burgess who plays Joy, a teenage murderer with no remorse. Both are great and play off each other perfectly.

Another good thing about the film was the special effects. For a low budget film the effects for the most part are really good and the fact that the inmates are inside a virtual reality game makes even the lesser effects just fine. The film itself moves at a fast pace but I did like that Director, Ryan Bellgardt took the time to develop most of the characters so the audience could have some feelings toward them in one way or another. This is the Emmy Award winning Director's 3rd film and for me his best so far.

The story is pretty simple but there are also a few twists along the way and a scene at the ends that suggests a sequel may be coming which I would welcome with open arms.

'The Jurassic Games' is Sci-fi meets the prehistoric, it is a fast paced thriller with loads of action and dinosaur goodies. If this sounds like something you might like then I highly recommend checking it out when it comes to VOD 6/12 and DVD 7/3.
